2019 Toyota 4Runner

This mid-sized SUV is available in seven different trim levels: SR5, SR5 Premium, TRD Off-Road, TRD Off-Road Premium, TRD Pro, Limited, and Limited Nightshade. The SR5 and Limited trims are available in a two or three-row seating configuration, while other trims are only available with two rows of seats. Although the SR5 is the base model, it comes with many features that are only listed as optional for other similar vehicles, such as 17-inch wheels, fog lights, a rearview camera, roof rails, a 6.1-inch touch-screen, and an eight-speaker sound system with HD and satellite radio, among others. Higher trims bring plenty of advanced features like better quality upholstery, larger 20-inch wheels, parking sensors, or a sunroof. The TRD Off-Road and TRD Off-Road premium are, as their names suggest, specifically built for rough terrains, with many functional features to help them navigate off-road conditions. Premium and Limited, on the other hand, feature more luxurious features instead of off-road capability.

All the 2019 Toyota 4Runner's trim levels are equipped with the same engine type, a 4.0-liter V-6 capable of producing 270 horsepower and 278 pound-feet of torque, helped by a five-speed automatic transmission. The SR5 and Limited trims are available in both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive, while all the other trims are four-wheel drive only.

The 2019 Toyota 4Runner offers a smooth and powerful acceleration despite its size, with the V-6 providing enough force for a swift rise in speed. The steering is quick and accurate, making the 4Runner surprisingly agile and stable in corners. The off-road oriented trims offer exceptional performance in rough terrains, but the other trims also provide an off-road experience that's superior to most other SUVs. It offers 88 cubic feet of cargo space with the back seats down and has a towing capacity of 5,000 pounds.

The 4Runner's interior is as comfortable and easily accessible as you would expect from a vehicle this size, with plenty of head and leg room for all passengers. The cabin's shape offers great visibility and the materials used throughout are soft to touch and good quality. The infotainment system features Toyota's Entune app suite and is displayed on a 6-inch touch-screen. Smartphone connectivity is available via USB and Bluetooth.

The 2019 Toyota 4Runner is equipped with active safety systems designed to help the driver navigate through any road and weather condition. The downhill assist control greatly improves the vehicle's maneuverability on descends and on slippery surfaces, while the brake assist system provides increased braking power when it senses a sudden brake.
